The penalties of the new Law Decree no.19/2020.

With the entry into force of the new law decree, n. 19/2020 the penalties imposed for violation of the provisions for the containment of the Covid-19 virus were tightened. Unless the act constitutes a more serious offence, in fact, non-compliance with the containment measures is punished with an administrative penalty of between 400 and 3,000 euros. Furthermore, if non-compliance with the aforementioned measures occurs through the use of a vehicle, the penalties are increased up to a third. In cases of non-compliance with the measures adopted for public places or for productive or commercial activities, the administrative penalty of the closure of the exercise or activity from 5 to 30 days is applied. Finally, the intentional violation of the absolute ban of leaving home for persons subjected to quarantine, due to their positivity to the virus, is punished with the penalty referred to in article 452, paragraph 1, no. 2, of the penal code (imprisonment from one to five years).
