Further steps to drive forward the Capital Markets Union
- 12/06/2017
Last Thursday, the European Commission has taken further steps to drive forward the Capital Markets Union (CMU).
The CMU is a pivotal project of the Juncker Commission to boost jobs and growth in Europe. It aims to strengthen Europe’s financial system by providing alternative sources of financing and more opportunities for consumers and institutional investors.
For companies, especially SMEs and start-ups, the CMU means accessing more funding opportunities, such as venture capital and crowdfunding. A strong focus is also put on sustainable and green financing. Another example is the securitization package, which has been the subject of last week’s news.
So, it will be interesting to monitor the new actions that will be unveiled in the coming months.
