EFSA opens to Novel Foods

On January 13, 2021, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) published its first comprehensive assessment of a food product derived from insects. The EFSA assessments on the safety of the so-called novel foods represent a first and crucial step for the European regulation of these food products. EFSA's scientific advice, combined with the work of European and national bodies, will allow in the future the entry of these products also into the European market.
